Announcing MGRM10: Merry-Go-Round Magazine’s 10th Anniversary Shows

0

The “About” section of this website was written sometime back in 2018.

I only know that because if you go back and look at it, it tells the broadly uneventful but important origin story of this publication and offhandedly mentions the launch being “three-years-and-change” in the past. So it’s startling to realize that A) we for sure should update that thing and B) that we’re now 10 fucking years past the quiet moment a bunch of Chapman University students launched an online pop culture website.

The time to wax poetic about 10 whole years of Merry-Go-Round Magazine will come later in the year, no doubt. But if we’re doing the thing, let’s do it big! We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be celebrating with two days of live music in Los Angeles, CA on August 15th and 16th!

On Friday, August 15th, you can find us at our regular haunt, Permanent Records Roadhouse, with a bill including a trio of tremendous Los Angeles rising stars, including Mo Dotti, Steel Wool, and Scone! The exciting news as well is that if you’re a Merry-Go-Round Magazine Patron, you can get into this event for F-R-E-E! Info on that will come via email soon.

On Saturday, August 16th, we’re boldly throwing a full evening of fun and music at Zebulon! There will be a ticketed event in the main room that includes Wild Pink, who eagle-eyed readers will recognize as having dropped our #1 album of 2024, as well as our faves villagerrr and Morpho. Plus, for free in the bar room area between sets in the main room, we’ll be having stripped-back sets from both Ruby Sparks and Macky. And after the music ends at 10:00 p.m., there will be a (free) dance party—more on that to come!

These are separately ticketed nights and tickets will go on-sale for both nights, respectively, this Wednesday (4/9) at 10 a.m. PST. Tickets for the Permanent Records Roadhouse show can be found here and for the Zebulon show here.

Lots more to come from us to celebrate 10 whole years of Merry-Go-Round Magazine, but for now, we hope you’ll join us for some live music August 15th and 16th! Cheers!
