Video Premiere: Milly’s “Birds Fly Free” (Live At Linguine’s Haunted Mansion)

When they aren’t busy hitting the road with Swervedriver or opening for bands like Horse Jumper Of Love, gloomy Los Angeles alt-rockers Milly make some of the best music I’ve heard in years.

Hot off the heels of their excellent sophomore EP, WISH GOES ON, the band have worked with beloved Los Angeles label Dangerbird to serve up a live set that explains why they’re already labelmates with acts like Silversun Pickups and Sebadoh. Shot at the alluringly named Linguine’s Haunted Mansion (which looks suspiciously similar to Dangerbird’s own label space… probably a coincidence!), the band crushed a performance of the sublime “Birds Fly Free.” If you pine for the days of Fender Jaguars, long sleeve thermals, and lackadaisical palm trees, this performance is right up your alley.

Jam out to the video below, and be on the lookout for a full set from Linguine’s Haunted Mansion, set to arrive tomorrow (5/28).
